Our Laser Machines

Laser #1: Split axis machine with Heidenhain TNC 360 controller, Electrox M1200 CO2 laser and inductive non-contact cutting head. 2500 * 1250 mm cutting bed size, pneumatic material clamps, power ramping, with 3 programmable cutting assist gases, fitted with both rotary (tube) and rotary (disk) workstations. Tube up to 340 mm diameter by 2200 mm long can be cut on this machine. Diamond saw blades and drills for the Construction Industry can be welded on this machine. Primarily used for all of our carbon steel and stainless steel tube cutting operations. Applications include high strength carbon steel tube for World Rally Car sub-frames to human reaction training machine frames. We can produce developments on our Cad/Cam system where tubes are to be welded together to form structures, with either the same diameter or different diameter tubes. Equipped with a tactile height sensor on the Precitec DXN cutting nozzle, this machine cuts non-metals such as acrylics and MDF. Plywood over 9mm thickness is cut on our water jet machine. Using compressed air as the assist gas produces a ‘flame cut’ edge on clear acrylic, leaving the edge almost as transparent as the material.

Laser #6: Trumpf Trulaser 3030 all flying optic machine with Siemens Sinumerick 840D controller with direct network connection, 3.2kw RF-excited Fast Axial flow CO2 laser. Maximum sheet size 3000mm x 1500mm, 60m/min rapid speed within a totally enclosed beam delivery system. 3.75, 5 and 7.5 inch focal length lens nozzle systems using AutoLas Plus focusing.

On thicker mild steel the pierce point is selectively lubricated using the Automatic Oil Spray Lubrication System, giving greater security of process and reduced wear on the nozzle. With the Hi-Las high-pressure system it is possible to produce burr free non-oxidised edges on all stainless, thinner gauge aluminium, titanium and brass. Fitted with a 500kg lift capacity vacuum activated crane this machine is more usually used for heavier plate cutting, to a maximum of 20mm thick mild steel and 12mm thick stainless steel.

Laser #7: Trumpf Trulaser 3530 all flying optic machine with Siemens Sinumerick 840D controller with direct network connection, 3.2kw RF-excited Fast Axial flow CO2 laser. Maximum sheet size 3000mm x 1500mm, 170m/min rapid speed within a totally enclosed beam delivery system. 3.75, 5 and 7.5 inch focal length lens nozzle systems using AutoLas Plus focusing. This machine is fitted with a secondary X-axis, which due to the fast traverse is used for small parts and parts with multiple apertures. Also fitted with a vacuum activated crane, with a lifting capacity of 300kg, the crane allows safe handling of thinner thickness sheet and plate compared to laser #6. Part cutting times have been dramatically reduced from our year 2001 Trumpf machine, further enhancing the competitiveness of our manufacturing facility. Using the 3.75 inch focusing lens fast cutting speeds up to 28 metres/minute are achievable. At these speeds on materials of 1.5mm thickness or less, the Trumpf 3530 is capable of piece part cut times quicker than conventional punch machines and without the need for tooling, complex shapes can be easily cut.
